PDX Jazz is seeking an Event Production Manager. Our 501 (c)(3) nonprofit is the largest organization presenting jazz performances and associated education programming in the Pacific Northwest. We produce the annual Portland Jazz Festival, a ten-day, multi-venue citywide festival attracting 25,000 patrons that includes approximately 60 events: headline concerts, free community shows, films, artist conversations, and education masterclasses; accompanied by year-round seasonal concerts.
General Position Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director/CEO, the Event Production Manager leads execution of event production for the Portland Jazz Festival and seasonal concert events.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervise, recruit, and schedule event production volunteers/staff (stage managers, stagehands, runners, hospitality, etc). Coordinate with tour and venue production staff.
Develop and manage event production work plans, pre-production advance, day of show production schedule, and post-production settlement.
Review, negotiate, and approve technical and hospitality riders, in alignment with accepted offers and show budgets.
Develop and manage artist itineraries including lodging, transportation, and hospitality. Arrange hotel accommodations, air/ground transportation, meals/back-stage catering, and artist amenities.
Manage event production vendor relationships. Obtain rental quotes and order backline, sound & video, staging, and consumables required to produce events.
Provide on-site management of event production activities, stage and back of house.
Coordinate artist merchandise sales and settlement with the venue.
Enforce OHSA, regulatory agency and venue safety laws, policies, and procedures.
Ensure performing rights clearances and Agreements are in place for recorded performances.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/CEO.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of 7 years’ event production experience in the concert industry inclusive of Performing Arts Center and/or Arena level shows. Festival experience preferred.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising event production.
Strong interpersonal skills: communication, time-management, priority management, financial management, and attention to detail.
Ability to work irregular hours (weekends/evenings).
Knowledge and proficiency operating and maintaining a wide variety of live event production equipment utilized in music performances including backline, stage, lighting and sound reinforcement equipment.

This is an independently contracted remote office position with a flexible schedule and competitive compensation. Candidate must reside in greater Portland, OR metro area. PDX Jazz is a small, experienced, collaborative team, this is a hands-on opportunity.
