KCL, the iconic, genre-bending powerhouse trio is back! led by visionary guitarist Wayne Krantz and featuring drummer Keith Carlock (Steely Dan, Sting, John Mayer) and bassist Tim Lefebvre (Tedeschi Trucks Band, David Bowie). KCL have become an underground phenomenon, cultivating an international following of devoted fans of every stripe looking for an alternative creative music that serves the mind, body, and spirit.

This THURS, SEPT 15 | BILLY COBHAM’S ‘CROSSWIND PROJECT’| WINNINGSTAD THEATRE
Billy Cobham was named one of the 25 Most Influential Drummers by Modern Drummer magazine paving the way for future drummers by changing the way percussion is set up, the way it is played and enjoyed. In 2018 Cobham began touring his “Crosswinds Project” which was his way of revisiting his second highly acclaimed album, Crosswinds and his other significant work of the ’70s. At age 78, the drum legend shows no signs of slowing down and continues to tour worldwide.

TUES, SEPT 20 | HIROMI : THE PIANO QUINTET feat. PUBLIQuartet | THE RESER, BEAVERTON
Ever since the release of her debut, Another Mind in 2003, Hiromi has electrified audiences with a creative energy that encompasses and eclipses the boundaries of jazz, classical and pop, taking improvisation and composition to new heights of complexity and sophistication. On her new album, Silver Lining Suite, Hiromi further exemplifies her virtuosic hybridity and emotional range, finding strength and hope amidst the turmoil of the pandemic. In 2009, she recorded with pianist Chick Corea on Duet, a live recording of their concert in Tokyo. She also appeared on bassist Stanley Clarke’s Grammy-winning release, Jazz in the Garden. In the summer of 2021, Hiromi performed at the opening ceremonies of the Tokyo Olympics.

The Comet is Coming is the soundtrack to an imagined apocalypse. The Comet is Coming to destroy illusions. It will manifest new realities, perceptions, levels of awareness and abilities to coexist. It is a musical expression forged in the deep mystery. It is the overcoming of fear, the embracing of chaos, the peripheral sight that we might summon the fire.
Through the transcendent experience of music we reconnect with the energy of the Lifeforce in hope of manifesting higher realities in new constructs. Because the end is only really the beginning.

TUES, OCT 11 | LAUFEY + Matilda Mann – SOLD OUT | HOLOCENE
Half Chinese and half Icelandic, Laufey spent much of her childhood traveling between Reykjavík and Washington, DC. Inspired in part by her mother, a classical violinist, she took up piano and cello early on, but it was her father’s collection of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday albums that spoke to her on a deeper level. Unable to tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she began performing a mix of originals and vintage classics on Instagram and TikTok, and within a year, she would find herself racking up millions of likes, topping the Icelandic radio charts with her debut single, “Street By Street”

The Bad Plus are the ultimate originals. A democratic unit with a clear vision and a refusal to conform to convention. For the past two decades they have played with spirit and adventure, made their own rules and done so with a bold sense of creativity and intent. Now in their 21st year, The Bad Plus continues to push boundaries as founding members Reid Anderson (bass) and Dave King (drums) embark on a new piano-less incarnation of the band with Ben Monder (guitar) and Chris Speed (tenor saxophone) – instigating a new wave of excitement and anticipation within the band that is re-energizing their sound and inspiration.
